With winter just around the corner, home maintenance  is not on anyone's minds, but it should be. Failing to keep up with your home can cause severe damage that can end up being extremely costly.Here are some home maintenance steps that you can take year round in order to prevent these types of events from happening. Start by a simple but thorough inspection of both the inside and outside of your home. Generally speaking, many maintenance items can be done yourself, but leave the complicated fixes to the professionals.

Outdoor Maintenance

 -Clean yard of all debris and remove any waste. Rake leaves and aerate the lawn.-Power wash all exterior parts of the house before doing any repairs.-Inspect windows and siding and make any repairs before winter comes.-Clean out fireplace flue (may want to hire a professional if you do not have the tools) and clean out all gutters.-Wrap any exterior faucets in insulation to prevent freezing.

Indoor Home Maintenance

-Clean out all vents (HVAC and bathroom exhaust).-Tune up all major appliances including HVAC. Also replace batteries in carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.-Vacuum all lint from coils behind appliances.Winter is hard on your home so you will want to make sure that you are prepared.
