Tips for Unpacking After a Move
So packed up your belongings and moved. The hard part is over, right. Not quite. You still have to unpack but luckily there are some tricks to help the process go as smoothly as possible. Unpacking can drag on for months if you don't have a plan. However, if you do have a plan, you can begin to enjoy your new home as soon as possible.
First Thing's First
Find you box of essentials. This is the box that will get you through the first few days in your new home without digging through all of your items, or worse, having to run to the store to replace items that you can't find. This box should include toilet paper, medications, changes of clothes, etc.
Deep Clean
Next up you will want to clean the house. There is nothing like living in a dirty house, especially if it is someone else's dirt. Hopefully, the former owners didn't leave the house off too dirty, but chances are everything will need a good wipe down. If things are really dirty, it might be a good idea to have a team of professionals come in before you start moving your items in.
Large Items First
The first thing you should do is to situate all of your largest belongings. This first and foremost means your furniture. Not only is it nice to be able to sleep in your bed on the first night, but the layout of the rooms dictates how quickly (or slowly) the rest of your move goes. Rugs are especially important as you do not want to track dirt throughout your freshly cleaned home. Hopefully with these tips up your sleeve, you will be able to have a seamless and mostly stress free move. You can start to enjoy your new and organized home.
