Costa Mesa Restaurant Week
Who doesn't love getting great deals while eating at the best restaurants Costa Mesa has to offer! Starting August 16th “Restaurant Week” will launch and will run through August 23rd. This will be the 3rd annual celebration in the City of the Arts where participating restaurants will offer great deals so make sure and come out to try something new. This event provides a great opportunity to discover new food at various restaurants for a fraction of the normal price. This is your chance to try some of the restaurants you've been craving!Restaurant Week started in 1992 in New York by restaurateur, Joe Baum, and founder of the Zagat Guides, Tim Zagat. The original four-day event was created as a goodwill gesture to the 15,000 reporters coming to cover that year's Democratic National Convention. Restaurants, which are natural competitors, came together and each charged $19.92 for a three-course prix fixe meal. It has inspired Restaurant Week’s all over the world ever since.
Fun Fact: The Pricing traditionally coincides with the year; many items include 13 cents, e.g. Pizza Ortica’s $20.13 lunch special and $30.13 Dinner.
At this year’s event, 40+ restaurants are participating you can find the complete list here: Costa Mesa Restaurant Week. While most on the list are well established eateries like Morton’s and La Cave, others are relative new comers. One thing is certain, they are all sure to impress the taste palette. It’s a good deal for everyone, patrons get the best food usually at the best prices of the year, and restaurants have a way to attract potentially hundreds of new customers. After all recent surveys show that people are eating out less and generally being far more price-sensitive in choosing where and what to eat; Restaurant Week gives you the chance to try various restaurants at very reasonable prices. Prix fixe menus entice customers with fine dining at up to 40% off their normal menu price. In addition to showcasing a city’s great dining options, Restaurant Week spurs both locals and out-of town diners to revisit old favorites and, best of all, try new places. Who wouldn't want to enjoy a week of special offers at Costa Mesa's top restaurants? A wide variety of lunch and dinner menus are available for you to choose from, so there is something for everyone.Prices are per person and vary depending on the establishment; they do not include beverages, taxes or gratuity. Be sure to let the restaurant know you’re there for Restaurant Week to receive the special menu and remember that not all restaurants in Costa Mesa are participating in Restaurant Week. Also, not every restaurant participates for both lunch and dinner, so be sure to check when making a reservation.
