Congrats to everyone who participated in the Costa Mesa Community Run & Expo. Over 600 people ran or walked and the event raised much needed money for our local schools. Cans For Kids (And Plastic Bottles Too!)
We’re making it a priority to go GREEN & going GREEN can help bring in GREEN for our schools! Join us as we team up with OCC to help Adams Elementary School & Sonora Elementary School in the CANS FOR KIDS RALLY June 7-11, 2010. Students should bring in aluminum cans and plastic bottles and drop them in marked recycling bins at the schools. All of the money from this recycling effort will be given to the schools. The rally will wrap up at the Costa Mesa Community Picnic on June 12. Let’s hope this is a big success so we can expand it to more schools throughout Costa Mesa next school year. Start saving your cans (and plastic bottles) now!

Many kudos to Mike Brumbaugh for introducing the 1st Annual Costa Mesa Community Picnic to Costa Mesa. What better way to start off the summer! Mike is President of the Halecrest & Hall of Fame Community Association and he meets with other neighborhood leaders to discuss ways to bring the city together. They thought a city-wide picnic would be a fun, easy way for the whole town to get together and have a great day. Each neighborhood will have a presence at the event and provide games and entertainment so everyone is welcome. The very first picnic will take place at Halecrest Park. Each year the picnic will be hosted in a different neighborhood park. Bring your own food and get ready for some major fun - there will be a bounce house, a variety of games & art projects suitable for all ages, a cookie decorating station, and much more!

6th Annual Bub-A-Que
Brian "Bubba" Kapko touched the lives of many. In his memory, his family established the Brian Kapko Foundation, which aims to reflect the activities that Brian treasured. The foundation is holding their annual fundraiser at Angel Stadium on Sat., June 26, 2010. The funds raised will be used to support local youth sports, education, and community outreach. There are 100 tickets available and last year was a sell out so make sure to buy yours today.
WHEN: Saturday, June 26, 2010. Gathering & food at 3pm, First pitch at 6:05pm.
WHERE: Angel Stadium. Watch the Angels take on the Colorado Rockies.
COST: $40 donation. Includes 1 ticket to the game, a commemorative t-shirt for the Bub-A-Que, food & drinks.

Volcom Skate Park in Costa Mesa Presents The Slam OC
Here's a great event for all those Costa Mesa skateboarders and any OC skateboarder who's looking for a fun event - The Slam OC. Volcom Skate Park in Costa Mesa is hosting the event. They're expecting a huge crowd and it's sure to be a fantastic event. Torelli Realty will be one of the vendors and there will be amazing music, food, clothing vendors, sports vendors, and of course skateboarding demos. The event is geared toward all ages (there will be a Kid Zone) so bring the whole family out for a fun day in the sun.
