Costa Mesa Green Task Force Presents A Speaker & Training SeriesThe Costa Mesa Green Task Force is on a mission to share information about making Costa Mesa a greener, more healthy city. To kick things off they are offering a six-part speaker & training series that is family-friendly. It's really a fantastic way for the entire community to gain awareness about "going green."

Wednesday, February 9, 2011: Building a Foundation at Home - There's Not a More Important Place to StartDerek Sabori will lead this session. He is the Director of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility at Volcom, which is based in Costa Mesa. Sabori also authored a children's book about the necessity of making "greener lifestyle" changes at home.Wednesday, February 16, 2011: The Fundamentals of the 4 Rs - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse & RecycleStephanie Barger from Earth Resource Foundation and Michael Carey (AKA Recycle Mike) from Orange Coast College Recycling Center will do a program on what items can be recycled and how you can help work toward zero waste.Wednesday, February 23, 2011: Conscious Consumerism - The Real Costs of What We ConsumeJesse Baker, PhD from Ecofficiency and others will talk about how much it really "costs" our planet every time we make a purchase.Wednesday, March 2, 2011: Home Skills for the Green Citizen - Keeping Your Home in the "Green" ZoneDelilah Snell, a Master Preserver, will educate the public about composting and preserving food. (Note: The Costa Mesa Sanitary Department offers composting bins for just $20!)Wednesday, March 9, 2011: Keeping it Green at School - Help Promote Healthy Living at our SchoolsWe applaud this one because we have enjoyed seeing how schools like Adams Elementary School and Sonora Elementary School have really embraced recycling programs.
