United Neighbors Caring Newsletter - January 8, 2012

This information comes directly from the United Neighbors Caring Newsletter sent out January 8, 2012.  SCOTTY TELLS US WHY TO USE “Find my iPhone or IPOD” Apps For those with advanced cell phones, such as the IPOD, iPhone, and IPad or any other device that runs off apps, consider the "find my phone" or "find my IPAD" application. The apps initiate a GPS tracker on the equipment. I have had the opportunity to investigate thefts or robberies where these pieces of equipment are stolen. When the application is used and the stolen property located, we generally find several, if not dozens of other items stolen during burglaries and thefts. You could not only help yourself, but others as well. BE SURE YOU HAVE NO HOLES IN YOUR FENCE! Recently a friend was babysitting young children and a small dog for a family living next to the Mesa Verde Golf Course. The dog managed to get through a small hole in the back fence. The sitter and children ran after the dog on the golf course. Just as the sitter gathered the dog in her arms, a coyote jumped out of the bushes. No one was hurt, but the sitter has a mental image that will last the rest of her life. It is coyote season, don’t leave dogs unsupervised in your back yard!!! WHAT IS NEXTDOOR.COM? It has been mentioned to us as a good neighborhood “bulletin board” for sharing information. In general, ways to communicate in a neighborhood might be useful as a supplement to your basic communication network, but be cautious about spending a great deal of effort and depending only on something that may end up costing you money or becoming an advertising vehicle as you continue to use it. Right now it is free as the product is being developed and refined. The following is a quote from the website: "Long-term, we hope to build a revenue model around working with local businesses to provide a special offers section of the website." REGISTER NOW FOR FREE CERT TRAINING - January 27, 28 and 29, 2012 You and your whole family will benefit if at least one of you can take the training and be aware of how to safely respond. It’s even more fun if you can take it together with a friend – arrange for all your adult family members to take it together and you will be even safer. Feel free to contact Torelli Realty if you would like an application: holly@torellirealty.com
