Torelli Realty is Excited about TeWinkle Athletic's New Changes!
What’s new with TeWinkle’s athletics? TeWinkle is starting off this year with some exciting improvements in their athletic programs thanks to an energized parent group lead by Jason Sweet. Jason, with the help of Estancia’s principal Kirk Bauermeister and Costa Mesa United organized and funded new purchases of all the TeWinkle athletic uniforms. All sports teams will receive new uniforms with the updated TeWinkle sports logo, which matches the Estancia “E” logo. TeWinkle is focusing on strengthening the connection with Estancia not only academically, but with athletics as well. As part of this goal, Estancia also welcomed over 250 third through eighth graders to EHS for our first ever Summer Sports Camp. They offered ten different sports (Baseball, Basketball, Cheer, Football, Soccer, Softball, Track, Volleyball, and Wrestling) for four weeks, with our coaches and athletes providing quality instruction for our future Eagles. The push has already paid off with a strong showing for both girls basketball and boys volleyball. Ms. Hurst, TeWinkle’s new principal, said that the enthusiasm and support of the community will help push athletics at TeWinkle to a new level. The uniforms will arrive on October 18, 2013.TeWinkle will also be adding some exterior improvement’s on the gym with a new mural. The student body is busy creating ideas for the new mural for the gym. ASB is running a contest for possible designs, and along with muralist, Tom Seibert, the school hopes to have the new mural up soon. Tom is known for the amazing murals he painted at Newport Harbor during the renovations of that school. The TeWinkle community knows that the sports facilities for the school are heavily used by both school based athletic events and exterior groups. There is rarely at time in which the fields or gym is not in use. Lunch time is a particularly active time for sports and there are multiple games of soccer, football, basketball and volleyball being played by TeWinkle’s very active student body. Lunch time intermural tournaments run by the new Social Studies teacher, Chris Flores are scheduled for the various sports throughout the year, with the five on five soccer tournament being the first one of the year. TeWinkle hopes to capture the enthusiasm and pride the school has with its athletics in the new mural. Feel free to come to any of TeWinkle games or support our sports programs!
