COSTA MESA NEWS, REVIEWS & REAL ESTATE HIGHLIGHTS:
Valerie Torelli, special guest on Money Matters on KTLK 1150AM - Our own Valerie Torelli was a featured guest on Money Matters with Dino on KTLK 1150 AM. The topic of the October 12th show was “Bankruptcy Looming? Here Are Your Options." Dino, Valerie, and the other featured guest, Robert Goe Esq. discussed matters such as reasons for bankruptcy, California State bankruptcy law, and determining home value. Robert Goe Esq. shared a great deal of legal information regarding bankruptcy filing, including justifiable bankruptcy and bankruptcy abuse. Chapter 7, 11, and 13 were discussed and the differentiation was explained. Mr. Goe also discussed bankruptcy legislation that has been passed and how it applies today. An immense amount of valuable information was shared that could help anyone either going through or contemplating bankruptcy. - The drama program at EHS has been running strong for 30 years. The program as we know it was started by Barbara VanHolt, who is the namesake for our theater. The program creates strong bonds between the students, beginning with a drama baby/drama parent pairings that connect new drama students with a mentor who shows them the ropes & supports them through their program. These relationships are so strong, you often see alumni not only attending the shows, but still actively involved in the program.
- The Estancia Market cropped up out of a drama booster's idea to support the troupe. It's now grown to be hosted by the Estancia PTA. It's a cute little fair where you can buy handmade and vintage art, jewelry & home furnishing. It's an appropriate venue for our eclectic Costa Mesa neighborhood.
TeWinkle Middle School-
- Study Group Enrichment: TeWinkle’s new Study Group rotation which occurs on Tuesday and Thursday every week has been a success. Students have had the opportunity to enjoy enrichment activities like Video Game Development, Current Events, Chess, Origami, Historical Events, Instrument practice, Microsoft Word Instruction and much more. Students are also encouraged to seek academic help when necessary through a process of teacher encouragement. At the start of second quarter, additional enrichment activities have been added including Pentathlon and knitting. The purpose behind the Study Group concept is to allow students the opportunity to experience activities which are new to them, or to use the time for additional help in classes when they need a teacher’s support for homework, work on concepts, or make up tests.
New Foodie Finds in Costa Mesa - Wood-fired seems to be a trend these days, so we hopped on over to Jerry's Wood Fired Dogs to give them a try. We must say, this is not a place for the indecisive because they have over 30 favorite fixings to choose from! The chili cheese frito dog was really impressive but we really liked their house potato chips too!
