Tips for Keeping Your Home Warm in the Winter
It's starting to get cold outside. Unfortunately that also means it will likely start to get cold inside your home too. Here are a couple of ways that you can not only stay warm indoors this winter, but save money on energy as well.
Curtains and Blinds
If you don't already have curtains and/or blinds on your windows, it may be worth installing some. During the day, open them to allow the sun light in and warm up your house. When it starts to get dark, you can then close them to trap in the heat and prevent new cold air from seeping in.
Programmable Thermostat
These days it is extremely easy to control your inside temperature. This is particularly true of thermostats that use your cellphone's location to know when you are coming or going and to adjust the temperature accordingly. This allows for a comfortable temperature in your home at all times, without breaking the bank.
Insulation
This option is a little more involved but can be well worth the time and money spent. Many homes are either equipped with not enough, or dated insulation that just isn't doing its job. Make sure your home is properly insulated. This is the best way to ensure that you maintain a comfortable temperature inside your home year round. Insulation is not too difficult to install yourself but it can be messy. Considering hiring someone to do it and you will save yourself the hassle and still have the investment pay for itself in terms of savings on utilities. If you are interested in buying or selling a property in the Costa Mesa area, Contact Torelli Realty.
