Holiday Decor Tips For Real Estate
Tis the season and holiday decor is starting to take over. We've got some secrets that can help decorate homes that are for sale during the holiday season. These tips are from Valerie Torelli and Realtor Magazine.
1. Make sure not to neglect the curb appeal! Don't go overboard with holiday decorations and lights. Valerie provided Realtor Magazine with this tip: Using plants like poinsetties in small clusters or holly bushes, will infuse a pop of color and spirit. Since there is less daylight and it is more likely prospective buyers will see your home after dark it's not a bad idea to have additional lighting in the form of holiday light strands. Just make sure the lighting is done in a neat, classy way.2. Candles: They are a wonderful way to add warmth to a home. Try using candles that smell like pine or fresh baked goods.3. Use colors that are warm and inviting - like ruby red, emerald green, gold for throw blankets, pillows, towels, and place settings. White and silver are also beautiful and suitable during the winter season. Decorations that use these colors also work well for table centerpieces, on bathroom counters, in wreaths and baskets. Another festive idea is to tie bows on candles, baskets, and wreaths. Just make sure you don't clash with decor you have in your home - that's a no-no.4. Use Some Scents: Fresh baked goods will make visitors feel at home. Smells like pine or a fire burning are welcoming as well. Some other smell-good ideas are cinnamon, spices, and apple cider. (Keep this in mind though - you don't want to hang stockings and block the fireplace because fireplaces are huge sellings points - don't hide it!)5. Enjoy the season for the season - not longer. When your home is for sale the best practice is to remove holiday decor by New Years. Hate cutting the season short? Next season feel free to extend it!
