We are often asked what makes Costa Mesa such a great place to live. Well, we could go on and on about the pride of ownership, abundance of activities, places to shop, etc. However, a little tale about generosity and caring people truly makes for a much better answer to the question. Get ready to have your heart strings tugged in a BIG way!A high school student who was three months from graduation at Estancia High School and in good standing recently went to the principal and asked to have his checkout paperwork signed so he could drop out of school. Principal Kirk Bauermeister was concerned when he found out that the reason the student wanted to drop out was because he couldn't afford to complete his senior project on bike repair. Without the $300 he needed, this boy felt like his only choice was to give up and drop out. The principal asked the student to try to think of ways around it over the weekend and then immediately sent out an email requesting help or advice from community members.A couple of hours later the principal returned to his computer and found a flood of emails offering to help the student. Over $300 in pledges came in as well as offers of bikes that the boy could use for his project.  The local YMCA even said they would help the student with fixing the bikes for the project! The boy was overwhelmed by all the support and is sure to be wearing his cap & gown proudly in a couple of months at graduation. So what makes Costa Mesa such a special place to live? We hope this answers your question.
