The Halecrest and Hall of Fame 2010 Chili Cook-OffThe Halecrest and Hall of Fame 2010 Chili Cook-Off is an annual event held at Halecrest Park. Right now the event is looking for some chili connoisseurs to whip up their best batches of chili for the community to sample. The contest is open to individuals or teams – whatever it takes to create the best chili dish!Sign Up By August 18 PLEASE - see below for details.Dish up your meanest chili concoction and be judged in the following categories: -1st-2nd-3rd-People’s Choice Award (picked by your neighbors & friends)-Best spicy Chili-Most UniqueA tip from Mike Brumbaugh over at the Halecrest Association: Mike will not be entering the contest however he does have a tip: “Spicy is key but not so hot you can’t taste the chili!”What you need to bring is:-2 crock-pots full of your homemade chili-A serving utensil-Condiments to complement your chili for the best scoring-Décor to decorate your booth (if you want to do that)-Someone to man the booth from 12-3pmAnother Great Costa Mesa Tradition!This is an example of another Costa Mesa neighborhood doing a great community event. It’s a Costa Mesa tradition that all are welcome to attend, whether they live in Halecrest/Hall of Fame or not. Plus the event is totally free for attendees although they will be accepting donations for the Costa Mesa Community Foundation to help save childrens programs.
