Remembering Estancia High School Coach
Costa Mesa lost a fine man with a great influence on our community this past Monday. Ex-Estancia High School coach Ken Millard died after a battle with pneumonia at the age of 76. Millard has been a resident of Costa Mesa since 1969 and is celebrated for his successful work with the Estancia Eagles sports programs. He spent over two decades as a physical education teacher and also coached the high school baseball team. His love for baseball pushed him to motivate the players and teach them valuable lessons both on and off the diamond. Millard also worked as a bartender right in our neighborhood at the Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club. He is a fine example of a local resident who dedicated himself to Costa Mesa. Millard’s heart was with the community and he will be greatly appreciated by many whose lives he touched in Costa Mesa and elsewhere.
Daily Pilot recently featured a great article on Coach Ken Millard.
