Our Take on Autism Event
Costa Mesa real estate and Orange County real estate are really important to me and I think it's great for homebuyers to see our industry making a positive impact. That's why it was great to read about a fellow real estate professional doing good deeds in the community. Barry Saywitz, who heads a commercial real estate firm based out of Newport Beach, is hosting the second Evening for Autism event at his Newport home on September 12, 2009 and more than 500 people are expected to attend. The goal is to raise over $200,000 for charities and for families that deal with the developmental disorder. Autism is growing quickly in the US and one out of every 150 children is diagnosed with it. This type of fundraiser is sure to help so many who are in need. One of the local non-profits that will benefit is Costa Mesa’s Talk About Curing Autism (www.talkaboutcuringautism.org). This organization assists over 15,000 families nationwide who are struggling to find educational programs for their autistic children. It’s amazing to see the far and significant reach this local program provides. Also, our very own Newport-Mesa Unified School District will receive some of the proceeds to aid the autism programs that help families with the disorder. Our public schools are really stepping up to meet the needs of the students, which is a great sign of support to the community.Treatment for autism can be costly and a lot of people don’t know much about the disorder so hopefully this event will spread the word and raise awareness, as well as raise lots of money. For more details on this event check out The Daily Pilot, 9/5/09.
