Congratulations to Costa Mesa Students

Costa Mesa students Daria Farris and Charles Umansky are the recipients of $10,000 college scholarships from Toshiba. These high school students are amazing role models and give our city a good name. Why are they such an inspiration?
Costa Mesa High School student Daria Farris moved to the US at the age of 10 and quickly learned to speak English fluently. This year she ran for student government president and won, which is a great example of her perseverance. She also volunteers with Make-A-Wish and values giving back to others. She plans to study international relations in college.
Estancia High School student Charles Umansky is admirable as well. In addition to being the editor in chief of Estancia's student paper, he is also captain of the varsity water polo and varsity basketball teams, a patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 711, a member of the jazz band and also part of the Surf Team. Charles plans to be either an entrepreneur or math professor.

Congratulations and thank you for being an inspiration to the community!
