Bring 5 Cans of Food, Get Free Admission to the OC Fair!
This Wednesday, fair organizers are offering free admission, and one free ride for bringing five cans of non-perishable food, between noon and 3 p.m. This effort is in conjunction with "We Care Wednesdays".Representatives from Orange County’s two main food banks (OC Food Bank and Second Harvest) will be on hand to collect the cans.From the CBS LA article...
“The food donated during the OC Fair Food Drive will help supply the food banks during the lean summer months when food donations typically decline,” says Mark Lowry, Director of the OC Food Bank. Last year, the OC Fair Food Drive collected nearly 40 tons of food. The OC Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank supply nearly 40 million pounds of food annually to hundreds of Orange County churches, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and social service organizations.
Those organizations also provide food to homeless individuals, the unemployed, people with disabilities, seniors living on fixed incomes, and the working poor.Read the full article here.
